History

A timeline of our milestones and achievements

1976

Established as the Department of Industrial Fisheries under the University of Cochin for postgraduate teaching (M.Sc. Industrial Fisheries) and research on fisheries science and technology.

1995

The department was elevated to the status of the School under CUSAT, recognizing its progress in teaching, research, and outreach activities.

2008

Started offering MPhil degrees in fisheries science and produced 70 MPhil graduates by 2022.

2012

Introduced the innovative Master of Fisheries Science in Seafood Safety and Trade, sponsored by UGC.

2022

Celebrated 46 years of excellence. Offers Ph.D. programs under the Faculty of Marine Sciences.
